In 1982, ISYS/Biovation CEO and Founder, Robert P. Liebeskind created what many consider to be the first interface between a clinical analysis device and PC. This software evolved into the requisite data management system for hospitals and clinical laboratories. The further evolution of these data management systems was MultiLAB PC. Since it was extremely easy to use, it was widely accepted in the marketplace. Clinical instrument manufacturers, including Bayer, Johnson & Johnson Clinical Diagnostics, Ciba-Corning, Abbott and Sysmex sold and marketed MultiLAB PC as a package with their instrumentation. Of the 400+ MultiLAB systems that were sold throughout the US and Canada, many still remain in use today.

In 1995 Isys Technology began the design of its next generation architecture that would evolve with new technology; instead of new technologies contributing to its obsolescence. The goal was to develop a system that would be platform independent, operating system independent and database independent. In addition, the system would be truly open and conform to existing healthcare standards, Health Level 7 and ASTM. These developments would result in a totally user-definable system with an extended lifespan of 15+ years. Work on this project resulted in the Messenger Laboratory Information System, first released in 2001.

During the development process of the Messenger Laboratory Information System, Isys Technology, Inc., acquired Biovation Inc., a California based company, in 1996. The new company was known as ISYS/Biovation.

In 1998, ISYS/Biovation’s corporate headquarters moved to Orlando, Florida. Since the move, the company’s objective to complete and fine-tune the Messenger LIS System has met with continual success since its release in 2001.
